I’m going to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, as I normally do this time of year. Thanksgiving here in the United States is a time to be thankful for what you have. Some folks may be thankful for their family, their friends, or maybe their job.  It’s not a religious holiday contrary to popular belief, but rather a time just to give thanks. Originally to give thanks for the fall harvest, it’s now just a time to reflect and give thanks.

Who might one give thanks to? Well, give thanks to God, or if you don’t believe in God, then give thanks to Buddha if you believe in him. Or, maybe give thanks some diety…if you are maybe pagan, then give thanks your sun god. Finally, if you believe in nothing, no one, or have no faith whatsoever, then be thankful that you don’t have to worship anything.

Some girl told me a few years ago…”We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in our family”.  I was like WTF you aren’t thankful for anything in your life? Entitled maybe? Someone owes you? You want everything you got coming to you, eh? I thought view was sad, uneducated, and very unfortunate all rolled up. My mom once said – “Pity the person who goes through life thinking that there’s nothing greater than themself”.  Oh how true, Mom.

Anyway, take a moment and give thanks. Be thankful that your son or daughter doesn’t have cancer or isn’t diabetic, or be thankful for your Mom and Dad and for their health.  Go ahead and look around – you can probably find a thing or two to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!
