You might experience IntelliSense stops working in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2 when you install Visual Studio 2010. If so, check out the following KB (KB2531482) located here; it tells you to install SQL Server SP1 and VS 2010 SP1 to get it working. I installed both, first VS SP1, and then SQL Server service pack, and got mine working again. After I installed VS 2010 SP1 I noticed that it was not working still; it requires both apparently, but I can’t verify that.  Try installing the SQL SP1 first and then crack open SSMS and see if it works – and let me know. At this point I have no idea if that’s a viable solution but please let me know.

Either way, I’m back up and running…use SSMS without it for a week and it will drive you crazy if it’s missing.

Happy IntelliSensing!
Lee
