I just flipped over to the North Lake College website and noticed that three courses are scheduled for Fall 2010, of which at least one I will be teaching, maybe more. The schedule includes the following, which will be taught on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2:
1) ITMC-2437-7700 (638368) Programming SQL Server Database - will cover stored procedures, triggers and the like, along with TSQL, SQLCLR, XML, etc.
2) ITNW-1492-7707 (638408) Special Topics SQL Report Services - will cover SQL Server reporting Services using SQL Server 2008 R2
3) ITMC-2406-7700 (638381) Populating Data Warehouse using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) - topics will cover the entire spectrum of SSIS, including Data Flow, Control Flow, script task/component, custom components, and fact table and dimension table population.
These are approved and designed by the Texas Higher Education and are four-hour transferrable classes. He's the info from the site, which basically means that the course numbers and descriptions are approved and will transfer, and that the courses have been opened up to students who want to take them as continuing education. (Most folks take the college credit route, BTW, and continuing ed is usually a small percentage).
Academic Courses
Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for transfer among community colleges and state public four year colleges and universities as freshman and sophomore general education courses.
WECM Courses
Designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as workforce education (technical) courses offered for credit and CEUs (Continuing Education Units). While these courses are designed to transfer among state community colleges, they are not designed to automatically transfer to public four year colleges and universities.
So, if you're interested in any of these, give me a shout via this site or email...and get enrolled!
Thanks much
Lee
