A week ago or so I was doing some Google searches to try and find a download of cities, states, countries, etc.  I found several sources but didn’t really like any of them – most were actually difficult to download because they had no delimiters or some other funkyness to them - until I came across this one.  So if you need the cities in the world for any type of data loading or data generation, check it out.  I think this one does not have states, but it does have the Lat-Long for each city, which is pretty cool.  Actually I’m going to use this for my VS 2010 data generation stuff as a lookup; I might use the countries, for instance, to partition data.
