Check out the courses at NLC.
I had a meeting with the person who runs the scheduling up at North Lake College last weekend, where I teach on a part-time basis, and we came to the conclusion that most of the interest right now in SQL Server is either in BI or TSQL. Because of this we’ve decided to add SSIS and SSRS courses to the offering, and combine the Course 6232A and Course 2778A into one course called Programming a SQL Server 2008 database. The SSRS and Programming course will be freshman level, four-hour courses, and the SSIS course will be a four-hour sophomore level course. I think the title of that is something like “Populating a SQL Server 2008 Data Warehouse”. This is all tentative of course.
I believe that we’ll have some really great things lined up at NLC. These are hours from an accredited college and will transfer to any public school in Texas. (The course numbers have been fit to standard, so we know this going into a semester). If you live in the D/FW area and are interested, give me a shout or contact the school directly.
I continue to be amazed daily at all of the SQL Server job openings that I see come across my desk, on Monster, or here where I am consulting. The future looks bright for database devs and dbas, so what are you waiting for? Get trained and get a (real) job!
