More things for your consideration.

A couple of more things for now (since I’m still bored). In Figure 1,  do you notice anything different here in my list from yours (I’ve right-clicked on a random table):

Figure 1. Table right click shortcut of commands menu

Right on. I’ve changed my SELECT TOP N Rows, and Edit Top N Rows criteria. If you go to Tools >> Options, and then expand SQL Server Object Explorer, you’ll find “Commands”, and this is where you can set three things, as noted below in Figure 2. Not too bad, eh?

Here’s one for you: If you work at a place where you have few permissions on your dev boxes, and you get this when you connect, and do a “New Query”:

Figure 3. Default to the master database

Here’s my question – what Einstein DBA sets the default database for the login or group which you are a member of to “master”? Anyone doing a lot of dev work inside of master lately? I’m not, no, not so much. Here’s a workaround, sort of. In your Registered Servers pane (View >> Registered Servers), register your favorite server and then right-click on it, go to Properties, and find the Connection Properties tab of the Edit Server Registration Properties as shown in Figure 4. If you change the “Connect to Database:” value to your preferred default database, you can initiate a query session by right-clicking that server in the Registered Servers list to that database of your choosing. Unfortunately, it won’t work in the Object Explorer…you get the same old master database that you always did.

Thanks for reading,

I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it.
