I figured that you could do this – needed the ISCSI software makes it happen
Found a blog posting from the customer services and support (CSS) team at Microsoft for setting up a cluster using evaluation software. Greatness! I actually have through step 2 #9 complete at home already and all set up, so I am ready to install the ISCSI software and get to clustering! One thing that you need to do here, obviously, is to set up Hyper-V on a server; this is done by enabling the Hyper-V role using either Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. You’ll need to make sure that your server meets the following requirement, as found on MSDN:
“Hyper-V is a server role available for 64-bit, x64-based editions of Windows Server 2008. Additionally, the physical hardware must support hardware assisted virtualization. This means the processor must be compatible with Intel VT or AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) technology, and the system BIOS must support Data Execution Prevention (DEP). DEP must be enabled.”
Great stuff! There were a few posts for setting this up on either Virtual PC or Virtual Server back a few years ago, and now someone has documented it on the latest and greatest – Hyper-V. I’ll post a blog after I have mine set up and let you know how it went.
