Van Halen still rocks!
I went to the Van Halen concert in Dallas at the American Airlines Center last weekend, 1/26/08, and really enjoyed the show. If you get a chance to see them, definitely go. They're back on March 3rd I believe, so you have a shot again if you are in this area. David Lee Roth was great, sings well, and even does some high kicks lol. Alex jams on drums, and Eddie can still play the guitar despite the smoking and booze. Wolfgang, Eddie's 16 year old son, played bass and was really a great little guitar player. I did miss Michael Anthony's backup singing and harmony. He's sorely missed in that department. Songs like "Running with the Devil", "Dance the Night Away", "Unchained", and "Everybody Wants Some" suffered without his smooth vocals. He really is one of the better rock backup singers around.
One thing that I didn't care for was the sound level. It was very loud. Now, I'm not the one to complain about that. I'll turn up anything from VH to Nickelback to Pantera to Korn to Disturbed at very, very high volumes. However, DLR seemed to sometimes have problems getting over the drums and the guitars, almost reverting to his nasal voice on occasion. Despite that, it was great seeing them together again. I haven't seen DLR since the early 80's while in college, so hearing the old songs with the original singer was a treat.

Great to see there is still a rock guitarist who actually knows how to play
